Some of you have written about seeing something mysterious on your OneBar. Is it sugar? Is it – gasp – mold?! The answer is neither. The white that can be visible on the outside of your bar is baobab. And it’s a good thing.

Baobab is a superfruit that comes from arguably one of the coolest looking trees in the world, the baobab tree.

And while baobab is new to the US, its health benefits have been known for centuries in Africa. It is high in calcium (nursing mothers in Africa get plenty for that reason) and packed with antioxidants.

Our baobab is powdered in its natural form and dusted on the outside of OneBars. It adds a subtle citrusy-vanilla flavor and has the added benefit of making the bars less sticky. And because where our fruit comes from is critical to us, we make sure our baobab is fair trade sourced.

So, next time you see something white on a OneBar, have no fear. You’re actually about to enjoy one of the most super of the superfruits.
